Connection of users to the URAN Network is made only via fiber optic of copper dedicated lines. Dial-up access is not provided.

URAN users are connected at the highest possible speed which is limited only by technical parameters of the data channel to the nearest available point of presence (PoP).

URAN Network has two functions. It is:

• Corporative network which provides network services and connects institutions of science, education and culture in Ukraine and, by pan European research and academic network GÉANT2, with research and academic institutions in Europe;
• Internet access network which provides to URAN users traffic transfer of other ISP from one of URAN Internet gateways.

Connection of users to URAN Network realized through dark fiber Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN), which allows transmitting data with speed 100 - 1000 Mbps. If the user has several connections to URAN MAN in different city spots, using technical means of URAN Network they could be combined into one virtual local network (VLAN). Speed of data transmission in URAN MANs is not limited; services of data transmission is free of additional charge.

The transmission of traffic in long-distance channels of URAN and GEANT2 networks defined value of minimal guaranteed speed is provided to URAN users (CIR). During non-business time the value of CIR doubled. Peak speed (CIR+EIR) is not limited and free of additional charge.

User charge for using URAN Network and Internet access depends від гарантованої користувачу швидкості передачі даних по міжміських (в тому числі, міжнародних) каналах мереж URAN and GÉANT2 і становить:

Гарантія смуги означає, що за будь-який неперервний період тривалістю 168 годин (1 тиждень) протягом 97,03% часу (163 години за тиждень) ширина наданої смуги гарантується на зазначеному рівні, а в решту часу (5 годин за тиждень) ширина смуги може зменшуватись, але до величини не менше, ніж гарантована в будь-якиий момент часу.

In own MANs URAN Network provides 100 - 1000 Mbps speed of data transmission irrespective of User charge. This User charge includes providing of 8 IP-addresses.

If URAN PoP is located directly in the user’s premises, the indicated price is final and the user does not incur additional costs. Otherwise the user for own costs should support the line to one of URAN PoPs. It could be fiber optical or copper dedicated line or leased from other ISP channel. The speed in MANs will be limited by the speed of this line. URAN Association gives consultations to provide the optimal technical solution.

Іншим способом підключення до Мережі УРАН є авторизація сервера користувача на VPN- або Proxy-сервері УРАН. Для цього користувач повинен мати підключення до Інтернет із фіксованою IP-адресою через одного з наявних Інтернет-провайдерів.Цей спосіб застосовується тими користувачами, до яких з технічних чи економічних причин не може організовано ні лінії БЗ, ні прямого каналу передачі даних від одного з технічних майданчиків УРАН. Недоліком такого підключення є те, що користувач фактично сплачує за смугу Інтернет двічі: один раз наявному Інтернет-провайдеру, а другий - Асоціації УРАН. Але в деяких місцях, особливо за межами обласних центрів, це наразі є єдиним економічно обгрунтованим способом підключення до Мережі УРАН.

The minimal capacity of services needed for making a contract with URAN Association is:

• with one connection to the copper port - 2 Mbps;
• with one connection to the optical port:
  • for universities of the IVth accreditation level - 10 Mbps;
  • for other research and academic institutions - 4 Mbps;
• with several connections and VLAN organization between them the minimal capacity of services increases depending on the type of port, starting from the second connection:
  • every additional copper port – 2 Mbps additionally;
  • every additional optical port – 4 Mbps additionally.
• при авторизації на VPN- або Proxy-сервері УРАН - 2 Мбіт/с.

Програма лояльності

При переукладанні договору з Асоціацією УРАН, що передбачає місячну абонплату не меншу, ніж попередній договір, користувачу, якщо він був абонентом Мережі УРАН не менше ніж 1 або 2 роки, надається бонус: відповідно +5% або +10% до ширини смуги доступу в Інтернет.
